“Bon is considered to be Tibet's oldest spiritual tradition and, as the indigenous source of Tibetan culture, Bon played a significant role in shaping Tibet's unique identity. Consequently I have often stressed the importance of preserving this tradition."

His Holiness the Dalai Lama XIV, from his introduction to the book of Geshe Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche's “Miracles of the Natural Mind”, 1993

About Us

We are glad to welcome you on the page of the library of digital images of the ancient BON tradition!

Our main task is to collect the most complete library of images in order to preserve the culture of the Bon art of creating thangkas, and to make it as accessible as possible to anyone interested in this topic.

Downloading high-resolution images is absolutely FREE subject to the requirements of the use of materials on the site.

Our project was warmly supported and blessed by His Holiness the 33rd TRIDZIN LUNTOK TENPI NIMA.

We respect copyright, so under each image you will find information where the primary source is located - in a private collection or in a monastery. The site is under construction, so some names / descriptions may be missing. We do not consider ourselves an educational portal, therefore, we propose to clarify the information you need with the Teachers - Mentors and Holders of Tradition.

The swastika symbol which is presented in some images is an integral part of the culture of Tibetan Buddhism and has nothing to do with Nazi and other political movements.

If you did not find the desired image or you need a larger file, write us. We hope, that we can help you.

If you find inaccuracies, errors on our site or you have information that you would like to tell us, we will be glad to any help and participation!

And if you have painted thangkas that are not in our library and which you are ready to share, we will be happy to organize photography session and post the finished file on our website. With your help the process will go faster!
